Alexander "joiso" Kostritsyn Yesterday's Biggest Highstakes Winner
The biggest winner from yesterday's high stakes games over at PokerStars was Russian phenom Alexander "joiso" Kostritsyn who managed an $88,239 win after early success at the PLO tables.
Although Kostritsyn played for over five hours yesterday, putting in 763 hands, mainly at the $400/$800 8-Game tables, all of his profit came from his very first (and very brief) outing of the day - a 24 hand stint at $200/$400 PLO table Feronia early yesterday morning.
Playing for just twelve minutes against Aron0621 and Bullitos, joiso won a pretty impressive $101.9k, winning almost every pot he played in. Both other players ended up out of pocket from the match, although Aron0621 took by far the biggest hit, dropping over $97k.
Much of joiso's profit at the table came from an $84k pot in which he flopped a set of Queens on a K 7 Q board and rivered a full house when the turn and river played out 10 7. After check-raising the flop, Aron0621 continued to bluff on the river, shoving his last $33k. His two pair (10's and 7's) was crushed by joiso's boat.
Kostritsyn missed out on a six-figure win for the day after making minor losses in subsequent $50/$100 PLO games and in his later $400/$800 mixed-game sessions.
Other than joiso, there was very little action yesterday with fellow Russian pro taking second on the daily leaderboard with just a $13.6k profit. He won over $11k at the mixed-game tables, with the additional couple of grand coming from the NLHE tables.
The UK's Matt "MUSTAFABET" Ashton came in third after winning $12.4k from a 3.5 hour evening session at the $100/$200 6max 8-Game tables, with Harleyy30040 rounding off the top four with an $11.6k win after a long day at the $100/$200 8-game tables.
