PokerStars Named Online Poker Operator of the Year

PokerStars was recently named as the "Online Poker Operator of the Year" for the third time in a row at the EGR Operator Awards 2016 in London.

While the online poker giant is most certainly pleased with the choice, there are many players who have been unhappy with the direction the company has taken since Amaya Inc. took over in 2014. For example, PokerStars has made several changes to its VIP Program in recent times, resulting some of the players boycott the site.

According to a press release issued after the EGR Operator Awards, PokerStars said that they "always think about their players first" and they are "commited to keep it that way":

Winning the Poker Operator of the Year for the third year in a row is great testament to the passion and hard work that people across the business put into making PokerStars the best poker site in the world. We always think about our players first and we are committed to keep it that way.

PokerStars recently received a license in Portugal and plans to expand to India as well. However, PokerStars might be withdrawing from Australia soon.

There has been also some discussion of a potential takeover by former CEO David Baazov.
