Dan "w00ki3z." Cates & Viktor "Isildur1" Blom Win Big at PokerStars

High stakes legend Daniel "w00ki3z." Cates got back to his roots yesterday and ended up on top of the daily leaderboard after winning a six-figure sum at PokerStars NLHE tables.

Cates, who won over $5m playing NLHE as "jungleman12" over at Full Tilt, as well as $700k at PokerStars, has played a lot more PLO and mixed-games of late, but has always kept his hand in at the NLHE tables, and is still very much one of the top tier NL players. He proved his NL worth yesterday.

Nearly all of his profit came from some three-handed play with Lottenice and hhecklen. The trio played across three tables, one at $50/$100 and the other two at $100/$200. Cates won $45.5k from 38 minutes play mid-afternoon play at the $50/$100 table, and $62.7k from an hour session at one of the $100/$200 tables, and he broke even at the other table. Lottenice made a small profit ($2k) prrofit from the games, with hhecklen the big loser.

For the remainder of the afternoon Cates more or less broke even in some 8-Game sessions, and won a little more back at the $100/$200 NLHE tables in his final session of the day, to leave with a $112,231 profit. Here is Cates biggest pot of the day:

w00ki3z. gets it in good preflop with AA vs hhecklen's AK. Neither run of the board provide the miracle outs for hhecklen and w00kiez. takes down this $48.1k pot

Unfortunately due to a technical glitch, HSDB missed most of some decent $1k/$2k 8-Game sessions that ran last night. The good news from the sessions (for most of our readers anyway) seems to be that Viktor "Isildur1" Blom had a decent win. The win could have been anything up to around $140k according to some sources on 2+2 He also won a little at the lower stakes 8-Game tables, meaning that his recent upswing has continued, and he may have added anything up to another $150k to his bankroll. If true, this makes Isildur1 the biggest winner from yesterday's games.

When the tracking came back to life we caught the tail end of a $1k/$2k sessions between Patrik "Fake Love888" Antonius, and Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky, which gave us out biggest tracked pot of the day:

A good flop for Sauce but a better turn for Antonius as he makes two pair and forces the money in. The river blanks as Antonius scoops this $94.7k pot
