Daniel "w00ki3z." Cates Wins Triton SHR Series Opener for $359K

The Triton Super High Roller Series has attracted many high-stakes poker players to Philippines, where Daniel "w00ki3z." Cates took down the first event of the series to earn the massive first place prize of HKD 2,785,900 (USD 359,234).

The event had a HKD 200K buy-in (USD 25,785) and a total of 29 players signed up for the 6-Max No-Limit Hold'em Freezeout. Only the best six players reached money, see the results from below.

Even a bigger tournament is currently underway in Philippines, the Triton Super High Roller Series HKD 500K buy-in Main Event (USD 64,465). Nearly 50 entries were made during the first day of play and the registration will remain open until the start of day 2.

The players started with 200,000 chips and the early chip leader is Steffen Sonthemeier with 811,000 chips, while online high-stakes legend Tom "durrrr" Dwan is 2nd in chips with 719,000. Players like John Juanda, Timofey “Trueteller” Kuznetsov and Rui "PepperoniF" Cao had a decent start in the tournament as well.
