WCG|Rider Makes Biggest Ever Streamed Tourney Score at WCOOP
Back in April this year Doug "WCGRider" Polk won $163k whilst streaming live on twitch for taking down a $700 tournament on PokerStars. At the time this was the biggest ever twitch score. However, in July a Russian low stakes player won a random €250,000 spin and go tournament whilst streaming to eclipse Polk's record. Now though, WCGRider can once again claim bragging rights to the biggest streamed tourney win after pocketing $455k for his 2nd place finish in WCOOP event 53 $10,300 NLHE 8-Max High Roller.
WCG started the day in 1st place with 436k chips, over 100k ahead of his nearest rival with 56 players left from 356 entries. However, it didn't all run smooth for the NLHE cash game expert as that 436k starting stack was about as good as it got for him for most of the tournament as his stack dropped to around the mid 200k's for parts of the day, and towards the final 1/3 of the tourney he was sitting near the bottom of the table.
Things turned around for Polk near the final table bubble when he was able to take down a couple of big pots, making the final table in 4th place.
With play 6-handed, Polk jumped from 726k to over 2.3m chips (and the chip lead) after winning back to back hands vs chip leader €urop€an including a 2.3m chip pot when WCG's AK bested his opponent's 77 all in preflop when he hit a four flush on the turn.
Shortly after Polk almost had the tourney sewn up when he called two all-ins with 10 10 and found himself up against 6 6 and A K. Polk was still ahead after a J 5 9 flop, but an Ace on the turn gave a 2.65m chip pot to Grindation.
Grindation took control of the game at this point and by the time play got down to 3 handed he held a sizeable chip lead over €uropean and WCG. Enough of a lead for WCG to suggest a deal; a deal which resulted in WCG being guaranteed $455k,€urop€an $459k, and Grindation $517k - with $71k left to play for.
€urop€an fell in third after his flopped Jack wasn't enough to beat Grindation's KK and the HU match started with Grindation nearly a 3:1 chip leader with 5.3m to WCG's 1.8m
After ducking below a million, WCG made a great comeback, taking the chip when his J 5 flopped two pair and he got it all in against Grindations pocket Kings.
However, WCG lost a flip soon after as his AK couldn't catch his opponent's QQ, leaving him short-stacked once again. Despite doubling up soon after, he eventually bust in second when he shoved preflop with 55 only to come up against QQ.
So congrats to Grindation who played a great game and came out on top with a $586k score, and also to Doug Polk who enjoyed his third streamed six-figure tourney score, and the biggest streamed tourney score of all time.
