The largest buy-in online tournament ever, 2016 WCOOP $102,000 No-Limit Hold'em (8-Max, Super High-Roller), kicked off yesterday on PokerStars.
The tournament started off modestly, with just handful players opting to register right away, including Michael "ChaoRen160" Thuriz, Doug "WCG|Rider" Polk, Talal "raidalot" Shakerchi, Isaac "philivey2694" Haxton and "OtB_RedBaron". However, most of the players who have made it to the final six, registered to the tournament just before the late registration period ended.
The tournament ended up getting a total of 28 entries after four players made an additional re-entry during the extended registration period. Players who bought in two times were "OtB_RedBaron", Talal "raidalot" Shakerchi, Timofey "Trueteller" Kuznetsov and Jason Mercier, who was streaming the event with a 15-minute delay on PokerStars' Twitch-channel.
Mercier lost a big pot early on with pocket kings against the pocket aces of Mikita "fish2013" Badziakouski, and fired up another bullet, only to bust out again.
The current payouts show $1,4 million for the winner, $840K for runner-up and $560K for third-place finisher. See the final six players from below:
