9th COOP Title and 2nd Baby For Shaun Deeb
Online tourney superstar Shaun Deeb has proved himself once again as he won a record equalling 4th WCOOP title (and record breaking 9th COOP title overall) today. Between making the final table and winning his latest poker title he also managed to become a father for the second time as his wife gave birth to a baby boy in the early hours of the morning.
Deeb took down WCOOP-12: $1,050 NL Draw Championship, besting a field of 95 entries (70 players with 25 re-entries), after going into the final six as chip leader. It was a tough field to top with some big names making the money (the top 11 were paid), including Betrand "ElkY" Grospellier and Dzmitry “Colisea” Urbanovich.
Urbanovich made it to the final four alongside Deeb, thechips55 and OLD TIME GIN, although he was very much the short stack and he soon fell to OLD TIME GIN when his 5's were no good against OTG's 6's. OTG took the lead soon after after doubling through Shaun Deeb. He then extended his lead as he eliminated thechips55 in thrid place when he was dealt A 2 3 4 5 to beat thechips55's K K T T 5.
Heads-up play began with Deeb facing an uphill battle facing a 4:1 chip deficit. However, Deeb's experience enabled him to stand firm and chip up over the next two hours, turning the tables on OLD TIME GIN and eventually closing out the tournament as OTG's A A Q 6 2 was crushed by Deeb's dealt diamond flush.
Deeb earned $22,185.60 for his victory which ties him with Dan “djk123” Kelly on 4 WCOOP crowns. His total of 9 COOP titles (4 WCOOP, 5 SCOOP) is currently unmatched.
While it might have taken Deeb a few hours at the final table to win the tournament, it took his wife Ashley rather less time to deliver the couple's second child as Deeb reported on twitter that after going into labour in the early hours of this morning, Ashley gave birth just five minutes later!
