Doug "WCGRider" Polk's $10,000 Bankroll Challenge On Hold For WCOOP
For those of you who might have been following online NLHE legend Doug "WCGRider" Polk's $100-$10,000 bankroll challenge on twitch you will have noticed that he is not currently streaming the challenge which he has put on hold for the next month as he tries his luck in this year's WCOOP over at PokerStars, which required relocating from Las Vegas to Vancouver.
We reported a couple of times on Polk's bankroll challenge as he stumbled out of the gates, going down to around $45 within the first few days, before bouncing back in the second week, winning a couple of low limit MTT's which took his roll over the $500 mark.
Since then, however, things have not gone so well from the brash Las Vegan, after a disasterous attempt to maximise his profits and lower his % rake by taking a shot at 10c/20c heads-up saw his bankroll crumble once again. Now back on the 1c/2c and $1 tournament grind, WCGRider's bankroll currently stands at a mere $137!
However, hats off to WCG who, despite the criticism and dauntingly long road ahead, has never once appeared defeated or even suggested he might back out of the challenge - quite the contrary in fact as he has gone on record to say that he will never give up and that he will complete the challenge, no matter how long it takes.
For the time being though, the Upswing Poker co-owner is continuing to stream several nights a week on his personal twitch page, showing a combination of WCOOP, MTT's and cash games on PokerStars while he's out of the USA.
The bankroll challenge and his WCOOP endeavours have not been the only thing keeping WCGRider in the headlines this month, though, as he has also been embroiled in a rather public spat with PLO end-boss Ben "Ben86" Tollerene over some incidents which took place in Canada a few years ago when the two lived in the same building for a while.
