Unibet to Launch Poker 2.0 in October

At a time when many of the most popular poker sites are merging or joining networks with shared player pools, Unibet poker decided to buck the trend when they departed from the Microgaming network and launched their stand-alone site back in 2014. Unibet have also bucked the trend in terms of year-on-year growth, up 37% last year, while the industry in general suffered a 20% decline. Looks like the innovative online gaming site are gearing up for a new look as they have unveiled their second generation poker offering at the recent Unibet Open in Copehagen.

Unibet Poker 2.0 sees a whole host of changes which will improve the player experience, and look like yet another move in the right direction for the site who dared to be different.

The first obvious change is the move away from Adobe Air and on to a new piece of purpose built kit which, according to a Unibet press release, “Should lead to improved client stability and ensure the new platform is more futureproof.”

As well as now offering rebuy tournaments and a much-needed hand replayer the improvements in the upgrade, slated for October 3rd will include an improved bonus shop and expanded challenges. Later in the year, Unibet will also release an iPhone client with features mirroring those from the desktop version.

Perhaps the most interesting change is the move to multi-screen gaming, with poker tables able to be tiled alongside online casino tables, with a view to soon being able to tile all of Unibet's offerings (Poker, casino, sportsbook, bingo, twitch) all alongside one another.

Andrew West, Unibet's Head of Poker said; “We’re looking forward to showing the world what we’ve been working on, but more importantly, we’re looking forward to improving our client for our players. After the success of our first client, the new release will change the industry once again.”
