Jason "jakoon1985" Koon has won the 2016 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open $5,250 Championship after defeating his former roommate Seth Davies heads-up to win $1 million.

According to the post-win interview, the two former roommates have known each other for more than five years, and their friendship extends beyond poker - “Jason is very much a mentor to me in poker, and in life. I’ve learned so much from him, just about how to grow as a person and as a poker player”, Davies said after losing the title to his buddy Koon. Davies received $575,000 for his runner-up finish.

In fact, Koon and Davies were joking about the possibility to face each other heads-up for the title before the final day kicked off - "Next thing you know, we’re sitting across the table from each other with the trophy sitting in between us, so it’s a really surreal moment.”, Koon recalled the final moments of the tournament.

This was Koon's best live cash and he has now over $5 million in total live tournament cashes. He has made millions in online tournaments as well, and one of his biggest online cashes is from 2011, when he earned $460K after chopping a FTOPS event.
