"Durrrr Challenge" Criticized Harshly By Doug "WCGRider" Polk

A new episode of the Polker News has been released by Doug "WCGRider" Polk. This time around Polk shares his thoughts on subjects like the never-ending "Durrrr Challenge".

As many of our readers might remember, before the Black Friday and the downfall of Full Tilt Poker, Tom "durrrr" Dwan offered 3:1 odds, that he could beat any player in the world online heads-up over 50,000 hands.

Known as the Durrrr Challenge, Dwan offered to pay $1,5 million to his opponent if he were up by $1 after the required hands were played. If Dwan came out on top, his opponent would pay only $500,000. First player who accepted the challenge, was Patrik Antonius.

The challenge began back in 2010. Dwan and Antonius managed to play around 40K hands, and Antonius lost approximately $2 million. After that, the challenge has not resumed and rumors of a buyout have been floating around. 

However, the next player to accept the challenge was Daniel "jungleman12" Cates. According to Polk, Dwan's challenge against Cates "could be one of the largest scams in poker history". Prior to starting their challenge, Cates had to escrow $500,000 to none other than Mr. Phil Ivey.

It was believed that Dwan also escrowed his money to Ivey for the 3:1 side bet, but according to Polk that didn't happen and Cates is now trying to somehow finish the challenge. The match between Cates and Dwan is currently sitting at over 19K hands completed, with Cates holding a ~$1,2 million lead.
