PokerStars Announce Likely Schedule of WCOOP & New Mini-WCOOP

With both SCOOP and the WSOP now out of the way, it's time to start thinking about the biggest poker series of the online poker calendar, the WCOOP (World Championship of Online Poker). To that end, PokerStars have released their latest "Draft Schedule" for constructive feedback, and it includes both the WCOOP and a new, smaller buy-in series to be known as "Mini WCOOP".

The WCOOP is set to run from September 4th -25th and to feature 82 events including a huge $100k Super High Roller, 8-Max with a single re-entry, a $21k 6max PLO High Roller, $10k standard and HU High Rollers, and a $5k Main Event with $1.5m guaranteed up top.

The Mini-WCOOP, clearly aimed at recreational players, will feature very low buy-ins from $1.10 up to $11 (with the one exception being the $50 Mini WCOOP Main Event) with a schedule to mirror the WCOOP proper.

For reasons unknown PokerStars seem adamant that the Mini WCOOP isn't part of the WCOOP proper, saying in their blog post “Mini-WCOOP is not in any way intended to be another stakes level of WCOOP.”

Seems an odd thing to say considering that is exactly what it is but there you go!

Unlike this year's SCOOP, which featured a 3 tiered buy-in per event, WCOOP is determined to keep the WCOOP and Mini WCOOP as separate entities, and as such the Mini WCOOP events will not appear on the regular WCOOP tabs in the lobby.

However, to say it is not intended to be another stakes level of WCOOP is stange considering PokerStars then go on to say:

"There will be an extremely limited selection of satellites to Mini-WCOOP Events, which will run on the same dates and at the same times, in the same formats, as the WCOOP Events which each one mirrors."

Either way, it looks like there is set to be something for everyone in this years WCOOP/Mini WCOOP, and Stars are offering you the chance to give your feedback at wcoop@pokerstars.com.
