Two 888poker Qualifiers Reach November Nine

Griffin Benger will be looking to ladder up on the final table
Fernando Pons will just be glad to be there - but never write off a €30 qualifier, just ask Chris Moneymaker!

As the sponsor of the year's WSOP, 888poker ran exclusive online qualifying tournaments for the Main Event. Two of those lucky qualifiers will now be seated at the final table later this year, each already guaranteed a cool million dollars!

In total 148 players qualified for the Main Event at 888, so getting two to the final table out of 6,737 entrants is pretty good going!

One of the two 88 qualfiers, Canada's Griffin Benger, is no stranger to success at the poker table. A former pocketfives world number 1, Benger has $6.5m in online tournament winnings playing under the moniker "Flush_Entity", as well as close to $2.5m on the live felt. He's even enjoyed a seven-figure payday once before, winning the first season of Shark Cage for $1,000,000 in 2014.

The second online qualifier, however, finds himself in altogether unfamiliar waters. Spain's Fernando Pons qualified from a €30 satellite and only has a little over $10,000 in total live tournament winnings - no more, in fact, than the cost of entry to the Main Event!

Asked if he knew who else had qualified for the Main Event through a €30 satelitte he said "Oh, yes - Chris Moneymaker!. Well then, I guess I'm the PonsMaker"

Pons will have his work cut out to win the event as he goes to the final table as the short-stack with 6.15m but with $1m locked up and the event of a lifetime to look forward to, he's going to be happy whatever happens. Benger, on the other hand, will be certainly going for gold, and with 26.2m chips he has a little more room for maneuver.
