Corey Tindal, a rookie cornerback for NFL team the Cincinnati Bengals, was robbed and pistol whipped whilst playing a poker game in a Super 8 motel in West Virginia in the early hours of Monday morning.
Tindal and a friend were playing with two aqcuiantances who they knew only by nicknames when one of them pulled a pistol told Tindal and his friend to "Lay down and give me all the money".
According to an incident report from the Cabell County Sheriff's Office the armed robber and his accomplice fled the scene with $4,000 in cash and mobile phones. During the robbery the gunman apparently hit Tindal twice on the head with the barrel of the pistol, although the NFL star escaped serious injury.
Local police have said that neither Tindal nor his friend will face charges for gambling. Currently neither assailant has been indentified.
