For the first time in 33 years the WSOP is featuring a "tag team" event, which has just got underway. The event features a 5,000 starting stack, 60 minute levels, and will allow players to tag in a team mate, anytime he or she is not in an active hand.
The previous incarnation, last seen back in 1983 was called the "Mixed Doubles" event and featured teams of one man and one woman. The new "tag team" incarnation features teams of any 2-4 players with a $1k buy-in.
According to wsop.com there are currently 695 entrants, although its difficult to tell at this stage if that is individual entrants or teams?
One thing which does look interesting is that there are a fair few combinations of family members including:
Simon Deadman and Shola Akindele (Husband/Wife) Bob Bounahra and Amal Bounahra (Father/Daughter)
Charlotte Trottier and Marc-Andre Ladouceur (Mother/Son)
Larry Little, Rita Little, Jonathan Little (Husband/Wife/Son)
Chris Moorman and Katie Lindsay (Husband/Wife)
However, the pick of the family teams thus far has got to be the Michael, Robert, Eric, and Daniel Mizrachi considering the first two on the list have seven gold bracelets and over $20m in tournament winnings under their belts.
