Phil Ivey is once again the betting favorite to win the World Series of Poker 2016. Ivey is always a popular player to bet on even though he have had some bad exposure in the press lately and has suffered some big losses online. But his popularity is still huge and his game is still very respected.
Ladbrokes, one of the leading betting companies in the world, has gathered a list of close to 300 potential World Series of Poker main event winners for you to bet on. Unsurprisingly Phil Ivey is the betting favorite. Ivey pays out 125 to 1, Daniel Negreanu 150/1 and Phil Hellmuth 175/1. These are of course all household names and it’s always expected that people want to see these players win the main event and are inclined to bet on them winning it.
Bet on Chris Ferguson or Howard Lederer
Chris Ferguson, the former co-owner of Full Tilt Poker, is a bit of a shocker to see on the list. Ferguson has not been seen on the live tournament circuit in years. The last time he cashed in a live tournament was in December 2010. But Ladbrokes has listed him 250/1 to win the main event. His former colleague, Howard Lederer, is listed at 750/1. The chances that these two players will show up is not very big though and you might be better of trying your luck with a casino bonus rather than betting on these guys.
Annette Obrestad and Vanessa Selbst favorites among women
On the female side you’ll find the lowest betting odds on Annette Obrestad and Vanessa Selbst. They are both listed as 500/1 to win the tournament.
Former main event winners
There are a lot of former main event winners on the list. Aside from those already mentioned, you can find former winners such as Martin Jacobson (250/1), Greg Raymer (500/1), Joe Hachem (500/1), Huck Seed (750/1), Peter Eastgate (750/1), Jamie Gold (1000/1), Chris Moneymaker (1000/1) and Jerry Yang (2000/1) among others.
Greater odds on online cash game specialists
Players that made a name for themselves as big winners at nosebleed stakes can also be found on the list. You can bet on Tom Dwan (300/1), Viktor Blom (500/1), Phil Galfond (500/1), Brian Hastings (500/1) and Daniel Cates (750/1).
