Isildur1 Beats WCGRider In 3 Hour $500/$1000 CAP NLHE Match
Isildur1 was back to winning ways last night/this morning with an $85k win over WCGRider
After his latest prolonged downswing, Viktor "Isildur1" Blom has finally registered a winning day, beating Doug "WCRRider" Polk for just over $85k.
Blom started the day down at the $25/$50 PLO tables, winning $22k before moving on to the $200/$400 stakes, where ended up losing his profit plus another $5k before retiring from the tables for the next eleven hours.
Upon his comeback, rather than choosing to drop down to the lower end of the high stakes tables once again, he went the other way, and chose the highest stakes available, against one of the best heads-up players in the world as he opened up two tables of $500/$1000 CAP NLHE.
The opening session between these two online giants lasted just over an hour and a half, started around 11.30pm, and resulted in a $151k win for Isildur1 as he took a quick $100k lead, just as quickly surrendered it, and then once more built up a head of steam to close both tables ahead of his rival.
The pair were back in action after just five minutes break, but as the next sessions starting point was past midnight, the rest of the action will be counted against today's results (at close of play yesterday, Isildur1 topped the daily leaderboard with a $146.2k win).
Initially, Isildur1 started the second session as he left the first, by continuing to gain ground on his opponent, at his peak reaching a profit of $260k against Polk. However, towards the end of the 55 minute, four tabling session, WCGRider fought back, and when they once again left the tables at just before 2am, Isildur1 was up $162k.
It was just over 1hr 20 minuted before the pair resumed hostilities once more, and this time it was Polk who forced the action and started to get a firmer grip on the match. In no time at all he had reduced the $160k deficit to just $20k, and looked like he was going to completely take over the match. However, this time Blom was able to stem to flow, and was able to almost fully rebuild his lead, going back to just under $150k in profit. A final few decent pots from WCGRider, however, put paid to Blom ending the session with a six figure win (the final pot in fact, which WCGRider took $30k of Blom's profit with a rivered two pair stopped Blom ending a six figure winner), and he had to settled for an $85.3k win.
The day's other six figure winner came from the $50/$100 PLO tables over at PokerStars where kardioloq played two successful heads-up sessions. He beat "0PIGGYBANK" for $40.2k in a one hour twenty minute session, before taking on knez1985 a little later yesterday morning, beating him for $83k in an hour's play.
n0d1diceb4by also fared well at the $50/$100 PLO tables of PokerStars, netting an $86.8k win in the afternoon ring game action, and Doug Polk's day wasn't a total disaster as he was the biggest NLHE winner at PokerStars, playing $50/$100, and also some $200/$400 ring games which included the likes of wilhasha, Ike Haxton, 26071985, and Lottenice. Polk ended the day with a $74.6k win at PokerStars.
These $200/$400 games featured several six figure pots. Here are the biggest two:
26071854 pays the price for his passive play, allowing wilhasha to river a highly unlikely nut straight when for the majority of the hand he held nothing more than a gut-shot - $191.9k pot
Ike Haxton builds a big pot and his turned two pair is good enough to take down this $160.3k pot as wilhasha calls his $60k river bet
